England's World Cup roster to exclude Foden and Palmer

Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are reportedly set to be excluded from England's 26-man squad for the upcoming World Cup, with manager Thomas Tuchel poised to announce his final selection on Friday, according to a BBC report.

Harry Maguire is also expected to be left out, and the Manchester United defender has expressed his disappointment, stating on Instagram that he was confident in his ability to contribute to the team after a strong season.

Maguire's Instagram post revealed his devastation, saying "I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had, I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision, I wish the players all the best."

Despite Manchester United's improved campaign, the 33-year-old centre-back is likely to miss the tournament, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Manchester United team-mate Luke Shaw is also expected to be omitted, despite a notable season that had prompted calls for his inclusion in the squad.

Shaw had been named in Tuchel's 55-man provisional squad, but Newcastle defender Dan Burn and Manchester City youngster Nico O'Reilly are reportedly ahead of him in the selection order.

Ollie Watkins is expected to secure a place in the squad, following his contribution to Aston Villa's Europa League win on Wednesday.

Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is likely to make the final squad, alongside his Premier League-winning team-mates Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Eberechi Eze.
