Ekiti State's Gubernatorial Race: Fayemi Praises Orderly Voting Process, APC Exudes Optimism for Victory

Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the former Governor of Ekiti State, has praised the conduct of the governorship election held on Saturday, highlighting the smooth and seamless nature of the accreditation and voting process at his polling unit.

Fayemi, who cast his vote at Ward 11, Unit 9, Ogilolo, Isan-Ekiti, in the Isan-Ekiti Local Government Area, commended the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their improved efficiency.

According to Fayemi, his voting experience was trouble-free, with the accreditation process being particularly fast and seamless, a sentiment that was shared by his wife and other voters in the unit.

He expressed his appreciation for the INEC personnel, acknowledging that their performance was a notable improvement from previous experiences, and stating "I want to commend the team working for INEC on this occasion.

Fayemi noted that despite a reported incident in the community the night before, the election itself was peaceful, and clarified that the altercation was unrelated to the electoral process, describing the community as "ordinarily peaceful" and adding "we are also a peaceful community".

He revealed that security agencies, including senior police officials, had assured him that investigations into the incident were underway to ensure those responsible were held accountable.

Meanwhile, Senator Ayo Arise, the former Senator representing Ekiti North, expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the election process as generally peaceful and orderly.

Arise, who voted in Oye-Ekiti, observed that the turnout at his polling unit was lower than expected, but maintained that the exercise had been smooth, saying "The election was very peaceful, very smooth and quick too".

He noted that the APC's target of 500,000 votes remained an aspiration, and added that voter participation levels would be assessed after the collation of results across the state.
