Ekiti 2026: Electoral Commission Representative Deems State's Vote Calm and Orderly, Praises Law Enforcement Efforts

Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti, has praised voters and election officials for their orderly and professional behavior throughout the state.

The commendation came after Omoseyindemi monitored the governorship election in the state on Saturday, which he described as largely peaceful.

Omoseyindemi expressed his satisfaction with the election process, stating that there were no reports of violence and that everything proceeded smoothly, allowing people to cast their votes without incident.

The REC highlighted the special arrangements made to facilitate the participation of Persons with Disabilities, including those with visual impairments and other physical challenges, in the election.

According to Omoseyindemi, INEC had previously identified the locations of PWDs during the voter registration exercise, enabling the commission to provide necessary assistive devices and support at designated polling stations.

He noted that people with disabilities and physical challenges were able to participate in the voting process, with those who were visually impaired receiving the necessary aids to enable them to vote independently.

Omoseyindemi explained that INEC had carried out a mapping exercise during voter registration to locate PWDs and ensure that the required facilities were available for them.

The REC urged the electorate to remain patient as the election results were being announced, assuring them that the collation process was ongoing.

Omoseyindemi stated that the people of Ekiti should be patient, as the results would be released soon, with counting already underway in some areas and reports being received through INEC's election operations support system.

He explained that INEC's election operations support system was actively monitoring developments across the state and maintaining communication with field officials to promptly address any challenges that might arise.
