Eight abducted Benue students freed, identified as JAMB exam registrants
Last Wednesday's Benue Links bus abduction has revealed that eight of the rescued victims are Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board candidates, who were traveling to sit for their examinations in Otukpo when they were kidnapped on April 15, 2026.
nThese individuals, who spent about three days in captivity, were among the passengers on an 18-seater bus that was abducted, and they regained their freedom early Sunday.
nThe rescued victims, including three girls, were taken to the Benue State Government House in Makurdi, where they were received by Governor Hyacinth Alia, accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ifeanyi Emenari, as well as their parents and guardians.
nThe victims appeared visibly exhausted after their ordeal, showing signs of the distress they experienced during their time in captivity.
nCurrently, documentation processes are underway in preparation for the governor's formal reception of the rescued individuals.
