Eid-el-Fitr serves as a catalyst for countrywide revitalization and harmony among people of faith, according to Lawan

Former Senate President Ahmad Lawan has expressed his joy to Muslims in the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan Fast, describing it as a period that calls for national renewal and unity in faith.

In a statement personally signed by him on Thursday, Lawan prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the fasts, night prayers, and good deeds of Muslims and grants them the blessing of witnessing many more Ramadans in good health and faith.

Lawan noted that as the month of Ramadan comes to an end, hearts are filled with gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the strength and faith to witness its completion and celebrate the day of Eid-el-Fitri, and he extended his warmest felicitations to the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the globe.

Eid-el-Fitr, according to Lawan, is a spiritual convocation that marks the end of Ramadan, where the harvest of patience, charity, and devotion is reaped after thirty days of self-discipline and God-consciousness.

Lawan prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the fasts, night prayers, and good deeds of Muslims and grants them the blessing of witnessing many more Ramadans in good health and faith as they exchange greetings and embrace their loved ones.

He emphasized that the true test of Ramadan is not how well Muslims fasted, but how well they retain its spirit, and that the month that taught them to be truthful must lead them to rebuild and confront national challenges without losing hope.

Lawan also recognized and honoured Christian brothers and sisters who are currently observing the holy season of Lent, noting that this confluence of sacred seasons is a divine reminder of shared values and a mutual quest for spiritual renewal.

He prayed that Christians may have a fulfilling Lenten journey and share in the joy of a blessed Easter, and that Muslims and Christians can together build an unshakable foundation for the nation by embracing the lessons of their different faiths with equal sincerity.

Nigeria, according to Lawan, stands at a critical juncture, facing tests of unity, security, and economic stability, but he is convinced that the same spirit that carried Muslims through 30 days of fasting is the same spirit that will carry the nation through its trials.

Lawan advised his colleagues in public office to let the empathy of Ramadan and the solemn reflection of Lent guide their decisions, remembering that leadership is not about privilege, but about service to millions of Nigerians who look to them for hope.

He urged the youth to remain steadfast, law-abiding, and determined, noting that their energy, channelled positively, is the catalyst for the transformation the nation seeks.

Lawan called on all citizens to continue to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the nation's leaders, and to reject the voices of division and hatred, amplifying instead the bonds of neighbourliness and love for fellow humans.
