Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has called upon the Muslim Community in the state to offer prayers for a peaceful and successful conduct of the upcoming governorship election, slated for June 20, to ensure Ekiti enjoys tranquility before, during, and after the poll.

This appeal came after the governor extended his congratulations to Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri, which commemorates the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast, a spiritually fulfilling experience for Muslims, as described by Oyebanji.

In a statement made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji commended the Muslim Ummah in Ekiti State for their devotion and commitment to one of the most important pillars of the Islamic faith, the Ramadan fast.

The Governor urged Muslims in the state and across Nigeria to continue praying for the success of President Bola Tinubu, in order to realize the vision of a more prosperous Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and a country that Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, can take pride in.

According to Governor Oyebanji, the Eid-el-Fitri celebration marks a special blessing from Almighty Allah, bringing to an end a highly demanding spiritual exercise and renewing the relationship between the faithful and their Maker.

Oyebanji encouraged Muslims to apply the lessons learned during Ramadan to their relationships with fellow Muslims and adherents of other religions, promoting a sense of unity and cooperation.

With the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, Governor Oyebanji advocated for continued supplications for Ekiti State and Nigeria, seeking peace, progress, security, and prosperity for the land and its people.

The governor expressed his gratitude to Muslim leaders in the state, led by the Grand Imam and President General of the League of Alfas and Imams in South West, Edo and Delta states, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, as well as Islamic bodies and the entire Muslim faithful, for their unwavering support for his administration.

A statement from the governor read in part, “I join our Muslim brothers and sisters in giving thanks to Almighty Allah for the special grace to witness the end of the Ramadan fasting, a vital pillar of the Islamic religion.

While seeking continued prayers for the state and country, especially as the electioneering period approaches, Oyebanji also urged Muslims to abide by the lessons of love, piety, charity, and supplication learned during Ramadan throughout the year.

The governor concluded by congratulating the Muslims Ummah on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, wishing them a Happy Eid-el-Fitr.
