Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations: Army Chief Commends Soldiers' Dedication to Combating Insecurity

Lt Gen Waide Shuaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has applauded the unwavering dedication and perseverance of Joint Task Force-Operation Enduring Peace troops in combating insecurity in Plateau, a testament to their unrelenting efforts to restore peace in the region.

During an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon with Operation Enduring Peace troops on Friday in Jos, Shuaibu, who was represented by Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi, the Chief of Administration, Nigerian Army, expressed his appreciation for the troops' sacrifices in pursuit of a peaceful society.

The luncheon, according to Shuaibu, was organized to honor the troops for their contributions to maintaining peace and stability, values that are deeply ingrained in the principles of military service.

Shuaibu emphasized that the qualities of discipline, resilience, and commitment to spiritual and moral renewal are essential for both the faithful and the professional soldier, and are highly valued in the military.

The COAS also took a moment to acknowledge with pride and gratitude the troops currently deployed in various operational theaters, who remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting the nation's territorial integrity and the lives of its citizens.

Despite being deployed in challenging environments, far from the comfort of their homes, these troops remain loyal and professional, demonstrating remarkable endurance, sacrifice, and courage, which are truly commendable, Shuaibu noted.

Shuaibu further assured the troops that their welfare, and that of their families, would be improved, stressing that the welfare of troops extends beyond the provision of equipment.

Maj.-Gen. Folunsho Oyinlola, the Commander of the JTF-OPEP, earlier expressed his gratitude to the COAS for hosting the luncheon, and acknowledged the recent losses suffered by the operation, which would not deter the troops from their ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.

Oyinlola called upon the residents of Plateau and its environs to support the military and other security agencies in their efforts to address the various security challenges facing the state.
