Ebonyi law enforcement detains personnel amid claims of violent attack, mistreatment of citizen, initiates probe

The Ebonyi State Police Command has taken swift action against its own officers, arresting those implicated in a disturbing incident of assault and brutalisation of a civilian in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, which left the victim with severe injuries.

According to SP Joshua Ukandu, the Command's Public Relations Officer, an investigation into the incident has been initiated, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, who promptly ordered the transfer of the accused officers to the Command Headquarters upon receiving the report.

The Commissioner of Police also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and exhaustive investigation into the matter, ensuring that all aspects are carefully examined.

The officers in question have been detained and will face disciplinary procedures in line with the investigation's outcome, as stated by Ukandu, who provided an update on the current status of the case.

The Command has expressed sympathy for the victim, who is currently undergoing treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, and has assured the public of a thorough, transparent, and unbiased investigation.
