The attention of the Dr.Dennis Otuaro Volunteer Media Team has been drawn to a malicious and poorly-researched publication authored by one Olamene Timidiemene, which is currently being circulated by shadowy figures to discredit the transformative work of the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This publication, filled with concocted narratives and outright falsehoods, is a desperate attempt to sow discord and undermine the peace and progress currently being enjoyed in the Niger Delta region. We are compelled to set the records straight and expose this smear campaign for what it is: a politically motivated attack by enemies of progress.
Firstly, the so-called "cross sections of the Beneficiaries" quoted in the article are nameless and faceless, save for a few social media handles. If the purveyors of this publication and the individuals they quote are genuine stakeholders in the Niger Delta and not just hired political mercenaries, we challenge them to disclose their true identities. Real agitators for progress do not hide behind keyboards; they engage constructively. Until they step out of the shadows, their words should be treated as the cowardly whispers of saboteurs.
The central claim that a sum of "151 billion" Naira was allocated to the PAP is a deliberate and malicious falsehood, designed to incite unsuspecting ex-agitators and the public. Let us set the record straight: the current approved budget for the Presidential Amnesty Programme is N115 billion, not the fictitious N151 billion being peddled. This misinformation is a clear indicator of the author's intent to mislead rather than inform. The public must ask: why would they lie about such a fundamental fact if their intentions were noble?
Since his appointment, Dr. Dennis Otuaro has been a beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change within the Presidential Amnesty Programme. He has been working tirelessly to ensure that the resources of the program are judiciously utilized to enhance the lives and well-being of its beneficiaries. His leadership style is inclusive, transparent, and focused on the core mandate of reintegrating ex-agitators and fostering sustainable development. The claim of an "oppressive leadership style" is a laughable contradiction to the open-door policy and stakeholder engagements that have defined his administration.
The attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration are not only baseless but also deeply ungrateful. The Tinubu-led government has been one of the most reformative and supportive for the Niger Delta in recent history. It is under President Tinubu's watch that strategic, big-ticket projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway have been given priority. His administration signed into law the bills establishing the Maritime University, Okerenkoroko, and has consistently provided robust funding and support for the NDDC and the PAP. These are not mere promises, but concrete actions that demonstrate a genuine commitment to the region's prosperity.
We call on all well-meaning ex-agitators and the youth of the Niger Delta to see through this veil of deceit. Do not allow yourselves to be used as pawns by disgruntled politicians whose sole aim is to disrupt the current trajectory of peace and development for their selfish gains.
Supporting the Tinubu administration come 2027 is a vote for sustained development, strategic empowerment, and a continued voice for the Niger Delta at the center. We must rally behind a leadership that has proven its dedication to our region's cause.
Therefore, we urge the general public to disregard the mischievous publication in its entirety. It is not just a political view, but a calculated and deliberate attack on the person of Dr. Otuaro by entrenched interests who are uncomfortable with the progress and reforms he is championing. The Niger Delta is moving forward, and we will not be dragged back by the forces of division and falsehood.
Signed, Chief Gen. WhoKnows Tomorrow Coordinator,Dr. Dennis Otuaro Volunteer Media Team
