Don Jazzy has been helping me since university days – Mr Macaroni

Nigerian actor and comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, on Saturday publicly thanked music executive Don Jazzy, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and others who supported him during difficult periods of his life.

The content creator disclosed on X that he was moved to tears after reading messages from people recounting how he had helped them at different times, with some of the gestures no longer fresh in his memory.

He said the messages made him reflect on his struggles and realise that he had been concentrating more on his losses than on expressing gratitude to God for helping him through the difficult period.

“I think this is God’s way of telling me to also be thankful!!! I have been thinking too much about what I lost instead of thanking God for seeing me through one of the hardest moments of my life,” he wrote.

Mr Macaroni explained that he had become accustomed to giving to others, while rarely receiving help or asking for assistance because people assumed he was financially comfortable.

“I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance. I have also always found it difficult to ask for help,” he said.

The actor revealed that someone had repeatedly intervened to help him clear his debts, describing the assistance as an act of divine intervention.

“God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I don’t think any sane person would do what he did for me without God’s intervention!” he wrote.

He also acknowledged the support of his close friends and fans, whom he affectionately referred to as “Mr Macaroni & Friends”, for remaining by his side during the challenging period.

“To my closest people in the World (Mr Macaroni & Friends) Thank you for not neglecting me even when you had every reason to. Thank you for saving me,” he wrote.

The actor singled out Don Jazzy for his longstanding generosity, revealing that the Mavin Records boss had supported him since his university days.

“To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others!!!” he said.

Mr Macaroni also extended his appreciation to Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji for their assistance during his difficult moments.

Despite the challenges, the comedian said he was now in a better place and was focused on learning, personal growth and engaging in activities that bring him happiness.

“I don’t and will never regret anything I have ever done in my life to make the lives of others better in even the smallest way possible,” he said.
