The naira is trading at about ₦1,329.44 to the US dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), while the dollar is quoted at around ₦1,390 in the parallel market on Friday, September 11, 2026.

n

The latest available Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) NFEM data put the official exchange rate at ₦1,329.44 per dollar, reflecting the most recent published market data.

n

In the parallel market, the dollar is being bought at around ₦1,380 and sold for approximately ₦1,390, although rates vary depending on the dealer, location and transaction volume.

n

At the parallel-market selling rate of ₦1,390/$1, the dollar is about ₦60.56 higher than the latest official NFEM rate, representing a premium of roughly 4.6 per cent.

n

This means a person buying $100 in the parallel market would need about ₦139,000, while the same amount would be valued at approximately ₦132,944 at the latest official NFEM rate.

n

Recent trading has shown the naira maintaining a stronger position at the official window, although the parallel market continues to trade above the NFEM rate. Market trackers reported parallel-market dollar quotations of about ₦1,380 to ₦1,390 on Thursday.

n

The difference between the two markets means Nigerians seeking dollars for travel, school fees, imports, remittances and other legitimate transactions may encounter different rates depending on whether they use a bank, licensed Bureau de Change or the parallel market.

n

Exchange rates can change during the day in response to dollar supply and demand, market activity and other foreign-exchange developments. Parallel-market rates are therefore indicative and may differ from the rate ultimately offered by individual dealers.
