DJ Neptune Warns That Artificial Intelligence Is on the Verge of Replacing Music Producers

Nigerian disc jockey and record producer Imohiosen Patrick, also known as DJ Neptune, believes that Artificial Intelligence could soon render music producers obsolete, a notion he expressed in response to a similar claim made by media personality N6.

N6 had voiced his concerns about the rising influence of AI in music production, stating on X that "AI is Quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering Industry" and sharing that he had seen some alarming developments.

In his reaction, DJ Neptune shared a personal anecdote that left him astonished, recounting how he had mistaken an AI-generated track for a human-created hit, which led him to advise the sender to sign the artist due to the track's exceptional quality.

He revealed that his perception changed when he discovered the track was created using AI, saying "That’s how my guy said na AI work, E shook me o," which highlights the impressive capabilities of AI in music production.

Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being utilized in music creation, with many emerging and established artists, producers, and sound engineers leveraging it to enhance various aspects of their sound, including beats, vocals, and overall quality.

In light of this trend, the Recording Academy has revised its rules to allow songs that incorporate AI elements to be eligible for the Grammys, provided that there is significant human contribution involved in the creative process.
