DIRECTOR OF PROTOCOLS (DOP), GOVERNMENT HOUSE, HOSTS HON. JOSEPH ALAKERE Declares Visit as Brotherly

On the 22nd of November 2025, the Director of Protocols, Bayelsa State Government House, Hon. Goodluck Ede Alakere, hosted his kinsman and younger brother, Hon. Joseph Ede Alakere, at his residence in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Joseph Alakere expressed profound gratitude to the Director of Protocols for granting him and his entourage a warm, brotherly audience for this auspicious meeting. He emphasized that his visit was not politically motivated, but rather aimed at strengthening the long-standing bloodline relationship within the ALAKERE FAMILY, a bond he noted had weakened over time.

Hon. Joseph further explained that although their pursuit of political survival placed them on different political platforms in recent years, it was all part of God's divine design—meant to enhance personal development and accelerate growth in Opuama Kingdom, not to create factional crises as seen in the turbulent political past. He thanked all Opuama stakeholders who, despite political differences, sustained peace, tolerance, and unity over the years. He noted that now, under a united APC umbrella, the Opuama Kingdom should expect more infrastructural growth, human capital development, and general progress.

Responding, the Director of Protocols, Hon. Goodluck Ede Alakere (DOP), expressed deep joy at receiving his younger brother and thanked God for the long-awaited opportunity. He praised Hon. Joseph for taking the initiative and described him as an embodiment of humility, courage, and maturity.

Hon. Goodluck emphasized that their past political differences could never override the eternal strength of the ALKERE brotherhood, noting that their bond existed long before political ideologies emerged. He commended Hon. Joseph for his resilience and exceptional leadership in steering the APC in SILGA Ward 13 through challenging years in opposition. He assured that now that they stand united under the same political banner, he will work closely with all stakeholders to attract meaningful development to the Opuama Kingdom.

Also speaking, the Technical Assistant to Governor Douye Diri on General Duties, Hon. Collins Nath Opumie, praised the two leaders for their humility, selflessness, and exemplary leadership qualities, which he said have fostered peace, unity, and development in the Opuama Kingdom. He appealed to all political stakeholders and especially their followers to emulate these admirable attributes that have transformed the old narrative of the Opuama people.
