Diplomatic missions impacted by AEDC's declaration of electricity blackout in Abuja

A power outage has been announced by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in various areas of Abuja, with affected locations including hotels and diplomatic buildings.

The announcement was made by the AEDC on its verified X handle on Saturday, specifying that the outage has impacted several prominent establishments.

Bolingo Hotel, the Wada Maida Building, which serves as the headquarters of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the embassies of Sudan and Egypt are among the affected locations, along with the Envoy Hotel and the European Union embassy.

Other affected areas include the National Planning Commission (NPC), the National Hospital, as well as the Turkish, Pakistani, and Indian embassies, which have all been left without power.

Garki Area One, Two, Three, Seven, and Eight, in addition to Garki village, Garki market, Ubiaja Street, Kaltungo Street, and Lagos Street, are also experiencing the blackout.

Furthermore, the outage has affected Oka Akoko Street, Treasury House, Karibu Hotel, and parts of Asokoro, including Yakubu Gowon Street.

Imo Government Lodges, Gado Nasko Street, Justice Sowemimo, Hassan Musa Katsina Streets, as well as parts of Jasse Martin, NIA, and TY Danjuma Street, are without power supply due to the outage.

Lugbe, Jedo, Forte Royal, Back Of Dunamics, Customs Quarters, Aviation Village, Piwoye Kapwa Ok Water, Nicomsat, Korean School, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport are also among the affected locations.

The AEDC has attributed the power outage to a technical fault, and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) technical team is currently working to restore the power supply.

The AEDC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the outage and appreciation for the patience and understanding of those affected.
