Desperate husband pleas with judge to order former spouse to vacate the premises so he can care for his ailing mother at home

A plea was made by Lawal Hamisu to a Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna on Tuesday, requesting that his former wife, Maman Muhammad, be ordered to vacate his residence.

Hamisu's lawyer, H.B. Debo, presented the case, stating that his client had pronounced divorce three times to Muhammad, yet permitted her to remain in the house to care for their children.

According to Hamisu, Muhammad has manipulated their children into turning against him, resulting in a complete breakdown of respect, with his eldest child now physically assaulting him and disregarding his authority as a father.

Hamisu expressed his desire for Muhammad to leave the house, citing his wish to bring his ailing mother into the residence to care for her, as the current situation is marked by daily turmoil.

Muhammad, in her defense, claimed she has nowhere else to go, being an orphan with a three-year-old daughter who depends on her, and implored the court to instruct her former husband to provide her with alternative accommodation.

The court case was adjourned by Judge Malam Yakubu Abdullahi until August 3 for a ruling to be made.
