Delta Governorship Candidates Oborevwori and Omo-Agege Exchange Fiery Jabs

A heated crossfire has erupted between Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, reigniting their 2023 rivalry as the 2027 general elections approach in Delta State.

The political landscape of Delta State has been set ablaze ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Governor Oborevwori and Senator Omo-Agege at the heart of the heated atmosphere.

Oborevwori, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has made the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu his top priority, aiming to secure Delta State's support in 2027.

In a surprising turn of events, Senator Omo-Agege has defected to the new Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and aligned himself with Peter Obi, after feeling abandoned by the Delta APC under Oborevwori's leadership.

According to Governor Oborevwori, Senator Omo-Agege's defection poses no threat, stating "He is not a threat because I've won him before" and highlighting that Omo-Agege's supporters had already left the APC over three months prior to his departure.

Senator Omo-Agege fired back, claiming Governor Oborevwori "panicked, chickened out, and ran into the APC" and asserting that he had won more votes than the governor in the Delta Central District during the 2023 general elections.

Omo-Agege also pointed out that he had secured 115,245 votes, surpassing Governor Oborevwori's 100,089 votes, and questioned why the governor would join the APC if he didn't consider Omo-Agege a threat.

Regarding the N3.15 trillion collected in three years, Governor Oborevwori touted his administration's achievements, stating that no contractor is owed and highlighting various infrastructure projects, including the Effurun Roundabout and DSC Roundabout.

Senator Omo-Agege countered, labeling Governor Oborevwori "an empty suit" and "clueless in governance," citing the lack of tangible projects despite the significant funds received, with approximately N750 billion of state funds idle in the Central Bank of Nigeria.

On the topic of presidential alliances, Governor Oborevwori expressed his support for President Tinubu, calling him "my number one project" and emphasizing the importance of voting for him due to his affiliation with Delta State.

Senator Omo-Agege, on the other hand, declared his loyalty to Peter Obi, stating "My presidential candidate in 2027 is Peter Obi" and highlighting the similarities between Obi's economic policies and those of President Tinubu.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized his "street credibility" and ability to connect with the people, while Senator Omo-Agege emphasized the need for a candidate with corporate wealth creation experience to address the state's issues, such as hunger, housing deficits, and poor healthcare.
