Defence Academy to Hold Live Ammunition Drill, Warns Locals to Keep Distance

The Nigerian Defence Academy has unveiled plans to undertake a live firing exercise for its 76 Regular Course cadets, as announced on Thursday.

This development was disclosed in a statement released by the academy's public relations officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, from his office in Kaduna.

Maj. Reuben Kovangiya revealed that the exercise, dubbed "Elementary Application of Fire", is scheduled to run from April 23 to April 25 at the NDA Open Range in Afaka.

According to Kovangiya, the exercise will comprise both daytime and nighttime firing activities, ensuring a comprehensive training experience for the cadets.

In a bid to allay concerns, Kovangiya assured residents of nearby areas, including Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, and Afaka, that robust safety measures have been implemented to guarantee a secure and successful exercise.

The academy's spokesperson warned the general public to steer clear of the designated exercise area and refrain from trespassing throughout the duration of the exercise.

Kovangiya appealed to the public to extend their cooperation by strictly adhering to the safety guidelines issued by the academy, thereby ensuring a seamless and safe exercise.
