Dangote Refinery Raises Alarm Over 22 Sabotage Attempts by Nigerian Workers

Dangote Refinery has raised serious concerns over what it described as unpatriotic and deliberate sabotage attempts by some Nigerian workers, revealing that the facility has survived 22 separate attempts to disrupt its operations.

According to a statement attributed to the refinery, the alleged sabotage efforts included intentional machine manipulation, triggering of fires, and other dangerous actions that could have caused massive damage to the multi-billion-dollar private refinery.

The management disclosed that it was only due to the refinery’s advanced control and real-time monitoring systems that these attempts were detected and neutralized before escalating into major industrial disasters.

Expressing deep concern, Dangote Refinery questioned what may have happened in government-owned refineries, where similar actions could go unchecked.

“If such acts can be attempted in a private refinery of this scale, one can only imagine what may have been done in government-owned refineries where individuals may feel protected by unions and assured of salaries even when facilities are grounded,” the statement noted.

The revelation has reignited national conversations around industrial sabotage, workplace accountability, and patriotism, particularly within Nigeria’s strategic oil and gas sector.

Dangote Refinery emphasized the need for strict oversight, discipline, and protection of critical infrastructure, warning that sabotage whether in public or private facilities poses a grave threat to Nigeria’s economic stability and energy security.
