Dangote denies misleading allegations regarding refinery funding, disputes rumored feud with Elumelu

The Dangote Group has vehemently denied a recent publication that falsely alleged Aliko Dangote, the company's President, had distanced himself from Tony Elumelu, labeling the report as entirely unfounded and malicious.

The denial was made in a statement issued by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, who emphasized that neither Dangote nor the Group had made the claims attributed to them, and that the publication had misrepresented their personal and corporate positions.

A statement from the company revealed that it had become aware of a publication titled 'Aliko Dangote Speaks Out on Why He Distanced Himself from Tony Elumelu,' which it described as false, malicious, and baseless, with no such statements or sentiments ever being expressed by the President or the Group.

The Group explicitly rejected claims that the development of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals was financed through personal borrowing from friends, describing these assertions as wholly inaccurate and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

As a matter of principle, it was stated that Aliko Dangote does not finance his projects through personal borrowing from friends, nor does he engage in lending arrangements of that nature, and anyone making such claims should provide verifiable evidence to substantiate them.

It was also stated that suggestions of any estrangement between Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu are equally false, with the two maintaining a longstanding and cordial relationship.

The Group expressed concern over a rising pattern of fabricated statements and the unauthorized use of Aliko Dangote's name, likeness, and image in AI-generated advertisements and other misleading content, which amounts to reputational harm and potential fraud.

All individuals, organizations, and platforms involved in the creation, publication, or dissemination of such false content were put on notice to desist immediately, with the Group warning that it will take appropriate steps, including legal action where necessary, to protect its reputation and that of its leadership.
