Iranian media reported on Saturday that oil exports from Kharg, a crucial island, have seen an uptick despite the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel.

Moussa Ahmadi, head of the Iranian parliament's energy commission, stated that following his visits and meetings on Kharg island, oil exports have actually increased in recent days, rather than decreasing.

Kharg Island, situated off Iran's western coast, serves as a vital oil export terminal for the country, underscoring its significance in Iran's oil industry.

US President Donald Trump has recently issued a threat to destroy the island if a deal to end the war is not reached soon and the Strait of Hormuz does not "immediately" reopen, ramping up tensions in the region.

On March 13, the US bombed military targets on the island, but notably refrained from targeting the oil infrastructure, in a move that was closely watched by Iranian officials.

Iranian officials have issued warnings in recent days that the United States may be planning a ground attack, specifically targeting one of Iran's islands, and have cautioned against such a move, citing potential consequences.

The arrival of the USS Tripoli, an amphibious assault ship carrying around 3,500 Marines and sailors, in the Middle East last week has further heightened tensions, amid warnings of a potential ground attack.
