Crude oil and other refined petroleum products dominated import activities at the Lekki Deep Sea Port in the first week of August, accounting for 1,867,712 metric tonnes of crude oil-based products brought into the country through the facility.

Shipping documents obtained by Vanguard showed that petroleum products dominated imports through the Lekki Deep Sea Port as of August 10, 2026, with aviation fuel, Automated Gas Oil (AGO) and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, among the major products recorded.

A breakdown of the figures showed that a total of 1,525,612 metric tonnes of crude oil came into the country through the port for onward distribution across the country.

Of this volume, aviation fuel accounted for the largest share, with 245,600 metric tonnes, followed by Automated Gas Oil (AGO), which recorded 104,000 metric tonnes. There was, however, no record of crude oil imports during the period under review.

Other commodities on the import chart included Bulk Urea, with 99,000 metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, Bulk Wheat toped the import chart at the Lagos Port Complex, LPC, with a total of 176, 243 metric tons of the commodity for the first and second week of the month under review.
