Creating Anioma State is crucial for Igbo solidarity, according to Jackson Omenazu

Dr. Omenazu Jackson, Chancellor of the International Society for Social Justice and Human Rights and a prominent figure in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has reaffirmed his unwavering backing for the establishment of Anioma State, deeming it a necessary measure to rectify a longstanding structural disparity affecting the Igbo nation.

In a statement released on Thursday, Jackson underscored the significance of the Anioma project in bolstering the Igbo people's demographic, economic, and political influence in Nigeria, stressing that it is essential for strengthening their position in the country.

Jackson called upon Ohanaeze Ndigbo, traditional rulers, political leaders, and all well-meaning Ndigbo to collectively resist any attempts to thwart the Anioma State initiative, emphasizing the importance of unity in this endeavor.

He also criticized Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, accusing him of deliberately undermining the Anioma State project, which Jackson described as "provocative" and a direct affront to the Igbo nation's core values.

Jackson asserted that the Anioma question is non-negotiable, rooted as it is in principles of justice, identity, equity, and the need to correct a deliberate structural imbalance imposed on the Igbo nation, emphasizing that silence is not an option at this critical juncture.

According to Jackson, the creation of Anioma State would reunite a significant segment of the Igbo people who have been separated since the Nigerian Civil War, increasing their geographical presence by 7,000 square miles, expanding their population to over four million, and unlocking access to the sea via the River Niger, thereby driving economic growth.

Jackson further accused certain political actors of promoting an alternative "Anim State" as a diversionary tactic aimed at personal political gain, stressing that no individual ambition should be allowed to compromise the collective destiny of the Ndigbo people.

Jackson praised the support extended by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and the governors of Ebonyi, Abia, and Anambra States, describing their stance as exemplary leadership that prioritizes Igbo unity and long-term strategic interests.

Jackson reiterated that Anioma State represents justice, identity, and destiny for the Igbo people, emphasizing that no individual ambition will be permitted to override the collective will of the people, as he urged all Igbo leaders and stakeholders to uphold the project.
