Coming 2027: Son of Lamido Secures Governorship Nomination for PDP in Jigawa State

The Peoples Democratic Party has officially announced Alhaji Mustafa Sule-Lamido, son of the former governor of Jigawa, as the winner of the party's ticket to run for the governorship seat in 2027.

According to Mr Isa Ahmed, the Returning Officer for the primary election held in Dutse, Sule-Lamido's victory complies with the party's constitution and guidelines, confirming him as the sole candidate on Sunday.

Sule-Lamido, who also served as the party's governorship flagbearer in 2023, expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for the peaceful conduct of primaries across the state, and congratulated other PDP candidates.

He pledged to promote unity within the party and outlined his priority areas, which include economic growth, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, social revival, and institutional reform, if he is elected.

Sule-Lamido noted that his current situation is not unfamiliar, having been entrusted with the same responsibility in 2023, when he ran a campaign focused on unity, hope, reform, and the promise of a better Jigawa.

Although he did not secure victory in the previous election, Sule-Lamido stated that he and his team earned the confidence of hundreds of thousands of people and laid a strong foundation.

He explained that the problems and challenges facing Jigawa, including unprecedented hardship, bad governance, and insensitive leadership, persist, which is why he is running again.

Sule-Lamido declared that he is not interested in lamenting about the issues, but rather in finding solutions to fix the problems plaguing the state.

He expressed concern over the declining standard of education in Jigawa and regretted that the government has not met the expectations of its citizens.

Sule-Lamido promised to rebuild Jigawa into a state that works for all its citizens, where leadership is accountable and resources are managed responsibly.

He also intends to build a state where opportunities are accessible to every citizen, according to his statement.

Sule-Lamido called on party members to unite and work together to woo voters, ensuring success in the 2027 election.

In a message to the people of Jigawa, Sule-Lamido said, "I hear you, I see you, and I feel your pains; give me the opportunity to serve you."
