Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has officially announced his intention to run for the state's top seat in the 2027 general elections, as reported by James Ogunnaike in Abeokuta.

Adebutu's decision was conveyed in a letter dated April 30, 2026, which was addressed to the Ogun State Chairman of the PDP through the party's chairman in Odogbolu Local Government Area, and made available to journalists on Friday by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya.

In the letter, Adebutu expressed his appreciation to party leaders and members for their "unwavering support and loyalty" while emphasizing the need for greater unity as the party prepares for the 2027 electoral cycle.

Adebutu stated, "I wish to formally notify the leadership of our great party of my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Ogun State under the platform of the PDP in the 2027 general elections," highlighting his commitment to the party's ideals and his desire to provide purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
