Claims of fake NYSC certificate against Interior Minister proven baseless – Police HQ

The Police have concluded their investigation into allegations of NYSC certificate forgery against Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, finding no evidence of falsification or forgery after an exhaustive probe.

Allegations had surfaced claiming that Mr. Tunji-Ojo had forged his WEAC Secondary School certificate and NYSC certificate, prompting protests in parts of the country and calls for an investigation.

Force Public Relations Officer ACP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the allegations were investigated and found to be baseless, stating that no evidence of forgery, alteration, or falsification was uncovered.

According to ACP Hundeyin, the Police contacted the NYSC and verified that the minister's NYSC certificate was duly issued, rendering the allegations unfounded.

A similar allegation of forgery against the minister had been made earlier, but the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) authenticated Tunji-Ojo's WASSCE result in January this year.

WAEC released an attestation certificate bearing the minister's full name, date of birth, embossed photograph, original certificate number, and official authentication markings, confirming the authenticity of his result.

The WAEC document, titled Attestation of Results, revealed that Tunji-Ojo attended Staff Secondary School at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and took the Senior Secondary School Examination in June 1999.

The document showed that the minister earned grades including B3 in Economics, B2 in Mathematics, A1 in Agricultural Science, B3 in Biology, C6 in Chemistry, C6 in English Language, A1 in Yoruba Language, C6 in Further Mathematics, and B3 in Physics.
