Christian Leaders in North Condemn Inadequate Security Measures, Call for Accountability in Jos Violence

A statement issued by Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel, Chairman of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly, conveyed the group's stance on behalf of its leadership and members, expressing profound sorrow and outrage over the senseless killing of innocent citizens on Palm Sunday.

According to Archbishop Daniel, Palm Sunday symbolizes peace, humility, and the triumph of love over hatred, making it deeply painful and unacceptable that such a holy day was desecrated by acts of violence resulting in the loss of precious human lives.

The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly has urged security agencies to take immediate action, cautioning that failure to do so could exacerbate insecurity, and has strongly condemned the barbaric act, calling for an immediate investigation and justice for the perpetrators.

The group emphasized that the lives of Nigerians must be protected and that no community should live in fear, while also expressing solidarity with the grieving families, the Christian community, and the residents of Jos and Plateau State during this difficult time.

The clerics have called on religious leaders, community leaders, and all Nigerians to reject violence and uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and unity, while also cautioning against normalizing killings or allowing impunity to take root in the country.
