Christian Association of Nigeria Threatens Rev Omolehin with Lawsuit Over Alleged Defamatory Statements

The Christian Association of Nigeria has issued a stern warning to Rev. Isaac Omolehin of Word Assembly Ministry, demanding that he retract what it deems to be false and defamatory claims about the organization, or else face legal consequences.

These claims, which have been circulating publicly, allege a North-South split within the Christian Association of Nigeria and the misappropriation of funds intended for persecuted Christians in Northern Nigeria, allegations that the association vehemently denies as entirely false and misleading.

A statement signed by CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, on Wednesday, clearly stated that the allegations are unfounded and deliberately misleading, with the Archbishop emphasizing that the association has neither received nor managed any relief funds as alleged, and no funds have been diverted under any circumstance.

Archbishop Okoh described the narrative as a fabrication designed to misinform the public, erode trust, and bring the Church into disrepute, and he firmly rejected suggestions of internal division within the organization.

The Christian Association of Nigeria remains united across the country, with Archbishop Okoh stating that there is no split, no secession, and no division within the organization's structure, and any claims to the contrary should be disregarded.

CAN continues to work with Christian leaders across Nigeria, focusing on peace, accountability, and the welfare of believers, particularly those affected by insecurity, and the association expressed concern that Rev. Isaac Omolehin's claims were made publicly without evidence.

Such statements, according to the association, could inflame tensions and undermine national cohesion, and the organization also raised concerns over references to prominent Christian leaders, including Enoch Adeboye, David Oyedepo, and William Kumuyi, which could mislead the faithful and heighten unnecessary tension.

Archbishop Okoh unequivocally stated that the Christian Association of Nigeria will not tolerate the spread of falsehoods or any attempt to malign the Church, and the association issued a firm and final caution to Omolehin and others to desist from spreading unverified claims.

Failure to comply with this warning will compel the association to take all necessary steps, including legal action, to protect its integrity and that of the Christian community, as stated by Archbishop Okoh.
