Chief Inko Blasts Bayelsa Governor Over Misplaced Priorities

Chief Gen. Inko Brightstar, popularly known as Whoknows Tomorrow, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Financial Secretary of Ward 13, Southern Ijaw LGA, has once again cautioned the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, against squandering the state’s oil allocations on fruitless contracts disguised as “investments.”

Reacting to the governor’s recent publicity about a $3 million Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with a Dubai-based company, Jampur Group, for solar power and smart metering projects, Chief Inko described the deal as yet another “white elephant project” aimed at impressing the public without delivering real value to Bayelsans.

According to him, the people of Bayelsa are tired of endless signing ceremonies and colourful MoUs that gather dust in government files with no visible outcome. He stressed that Yenagoa and its surrounding communities urgently need functional infrastructure, not empty paperwork.

> “What Bayelsa needs now is access roads linking the so-called glorified expressways such as Bayelsa Palm–Igbogene Road and Gloryland Drive. These roads remain useless because they do not connect to the people. Instead of wasting scarce resources on ceremonial contracts, the governor should concentrate on roads and projects that directly touch lives,” Chief Inko declared.

He also reminded the governor that Bayelsans are still demanding accountability over the controversial ₦25 billion aircraft deal, which remains shrouded in secrecy.

“Even if Governor Diri leaves office tomorrow, he will surely account for that money,” he warned.

On the much-publicised cassava processing company in Sagbama, Chief Inko challenged the government to tell Bayelsans whether the facility has started production or if it has already joined the long list of abandoned projects.

While the governor insists the Jampur deal comes “at no cost to government,” Chief Inko countered that past MoUs signed under Diri’s administration have only enriched a privileged few, with no tangible benefits for the masses.

He, therefore, called on Bayelsans to reject government propaganda and demand genuine development in the form of roads, schools, hospitals, and transparency in the use of state funds.

“Governor Diri should stop chasing shadows with MoUs and focus on providing visible infrastructure that Bayelsans can see, use, and benefit from. Until then, all this noise about solar plants and smart meters remains nothing but empty promises,” he concluded.
