Chelle Sets Sights on NPFL and International Players in Preparation for Unity Cup

Nigeria's Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, aims to bolster his team by scouting for talent in the Nigeria Premier Football League and Europe, ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup, which is set to take place from May 26 to 30 in London.

The Unity Cup will see Nigeria defend its title against India, Jamaica, and Zimbabwe, providing Chelle with an opportunity to evaluate new players and reinforce his squad.

According to Chelle, the Unity Cup will serve as a platform to assess fresh talent, and he plans to invite new players of Nigerian descent from Europe, as well as those who were previously called up but never had the chance to play.

Chelle emphasized his commitment to giving opportunities to top performers in the domestic league, stating that he will consider standout players from the Nigeria Premier Football League and watch several domestic league games until the end of the season.

Following the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles are scheduled to face top European teams, including Poland and World Cup-bound Portugal, in friendly matches in June, with Chelle intending to field a strong squad to improve Nigeria's global standing.
