CFRA calls for optimism and fairness this Easter as safety concerns grow.

The Christian Faith Reporters Association is advocating for a renewed dedication to peace, justice, and national unity as Easter celebrations commence, with Christians in Nigeria joining the global community in observing this significant holiday.

In a message issued on the eve of Easter, Adeola Ogunlade, the President of the Christian Faith Reporters Association, underscored the importance of embracing the values of love, justice, and courage in the face of ongoing insecurity, as embodied by the true spirit of the Easter season.

The association's Easter message noted that the joy of the season has been tempered by the tragic loss of life in the recent killings of innocent civilians in Jos on Palm Sunday, an incident that has cast a pall of grief over the celebrations.

The Christian Faith Reporters Association lamented the fact that a period traditionally associated with peace and spiritual reflection has been marred by violence, resulting in the loss of precious lives and underscoring the need for collective action to address the prevailing insecurity.

The association emphasized that the sanctity of human life is inviolable, and that no society can flourish in an environment where bloodshed becomes a routine occurrence, urging leaders at all levels to embody the true essence of Easter through decisive actions that safeguard lives and promote justice.

In a show of solidarity with the families of victims of the attacks, the Christian Faith Reporters Association called for justice and stressed that the pain of those affected must not be ignored, while also acknowledging the efforts of government authorities to tackle insecurity.

However, the association maintained that more proactive and sustained strategies are necessary to curb the persistent attacks on vulnerable communities, and urged security agencies to ensure the swift apprehension and prosecution of perpetrators.

The Christian Faith Reporters Association emphasized that Nigerians have the right to live, work, and worship without fear, and encouraged citizens to utilize the Easter season as an opportunity to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect across ethnic and religious divides.

The association further called for a collective resolve to reject violence and work towards building a nation founded on justice and righteousness, and expressed optimism that Nigeria can overcome its current challenges through unity and purposeful leadership.
