Cardoso reshuffles junior governors, places Ikeazor at policy helm

Governor Olayemi Cardoso of the Central Bank of Nigeria has implemented a significant reshuffle, reassigning all four deputy governors to new roles within the institution.

This major overhaul, announced on Monday night, has resulted in Mr Philip Ikeazor assuming control of the policy portfolio, a position previously held by Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi.

Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi, in turn, has been reassigned to lead the Corporate Services department, marking a departure from his previous role at the Economic Policy Directorate.

Meanwhile, Ms. Emem Nnana Usoro is leaving her post in corporate services to take on a new challenge, overseeing the bank's operations.

Furthermore, Mr. Lamido Yuguda has been transferred from the Operations department to the Financial System Stability Directorate, as part of the sweeping changes.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has declined to provide specific reasons behind the redeployment of its deputy governors.

According to the bank, the reshuffle aims to leverage the experience of senior officials across various areas of responsibility and support the institution's evolving priorities, which are continually shifting.
