Businesses must replace faulty goods, compensate – Consumer protection agency

nThe General Manager, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Mr Afolabi Solebo, says that businesses have a responsibility to promptly replace faulty goods or provide adequate compensation.
nAccording to Solebo, the replacement or compensation is line with consumer protection laws.
nThe general manager made this known in a statement issued by Mr Rufai Adesile, Assistant Director, Public Affairs of LASCOPA, on Saturday in Lagos.
nHe emphasised the importance of ensuring safe products to gain confidence of consumers.
nSolebo said that consumer confidence would be built on availability of safe and high-quality products that would meet established standards and regulatory requirements.
nHe encouraged consumers to report grievances through appropriate channels
nSolebo gave the assurance of the agency’s continued commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair treatment in the marketplace.
n“Consumers have the right to seek redress when sold defective, substandard or unsafe products,” he said.
