Burglars try to infiltrate Yamal's Barcelona residence while he watches France game

Burglars made an attempt to break into the Barcelona home of Spain star Lamine Yamal on Wednesday, shortly after he helped La Roja reach their second World Cup final, according to police and media reports.

A spokesperson for Catalan regional police confirmed that there was an attempted burglary at a home in Esplugues de Llobregat, located on the outskirts of Barcelona, but declined to identify the property’s owner due to privacy reasons.

However, Barcelona-based daily La Vanguardia identified the house as belonging to the 19-year-old Spain forward, Lamine Yamal, and reported that two people wearing balaclavas climbed onto the house’s wall before being surprised by private security guards and fleeing the scene.

La Vanguardia also noted that Yamal’s house is well known, having previously belonged to Barcelona great Gerard Pique and his ex-partner, Colombian music star Shakira, during their time together in the Catalan capital.

The attempted break-in occurred early on Wednesday morning, just moments after Spain secured their 2-0 victory over France in Texas to qualify for the World Cup final, with Yamal winning a first-half penalty that Mikel Oyarzabal converted to open the scoring.

In recent years, several football stars, including Karim Benzema, Rodrygo, and Dani Carvajal, have fallen victim to break-ins at their homes in Madrid.
