Buhari's Son Eyes Spot in House of Representatives

Yusuf, the son of late President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally expressed his intention to run for a seat in the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2027 poll, as stated in a letter dated 3 April 2026.

This letter, titled “Expression of interest to contest for the seat of House of Representatives, Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency,” conveyed Yusuf's eagerness to participate in the electoral process under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

According to the letter, Yusuf is "extremely delighted" to announce his decision to contest the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency, following extensive consultations with various stakeholders.

Yusuf's ambition is driven by his desire to contribute to the constituency by ensuring good and qualitative leadership, and he is counting on the support of others to succeed in his endeavor.

He hopes to bring about infrastructural development and human capital development to the people of the constituency, and has expressed his appreciation in advance for any support he may receive.

Bashir Ahmad, the former special assistant on digital communications to the late president, has confirmed Yusuf's decision to run on his X page, highlighting that this move comes after thorough discussions with relevant stakeholders.

Yusuf's expression of interest comes on the heels of a recent endorsement by stakeholders of the APC in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State, who have thrown their weight behind him as their preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency.

This endorsement was made during a high-level meeting at the Sandamu Local Government secretariat, which brought together elected officials and political appointees from across the constituency.

Council chairman Usman Na-Lado addressed the gathering, describing the endorsement as a collective resolution reached by stakeholders, who consider Yusuf a suitable candidate due to his perceived capacity and acceptance among party stakeholders.

Na-Lado also took the opportunity to reaffirm support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dikko Radda as the party's flag bearers for the presidency and governorship seats, respectively, in the 2027 general elections, in addition to backing Yusuf's candidacy.
