Britain revises roster of nations requiring travel permits upon arrival

The UK government has refreshed its roster of countries subject to visa requirements for entry or transit, with the latest update taking effect on July 10, 2026.

This revised list encompasses a diverse array of nations spanning Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Afghanistan is among the countries whose nationals are required to obtain a visa to enter or transit the UK, along with Albania and Algeria.

Other countries on the list include Angola, Bangladesh, Belarus, and Botswana, as well as Burundi and Cameroon.

The list also features China, specifically the People’s Republic of, as well as Colombia and the two Congos, namely Congo and Congo Dem. Republic.

Cyprus is partially represented, with the northern part of the island requiring a visa, while other countries on the list include Dominica, Egypt, and El Salvador.

Eritrea, Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, and Ethiopia are also subject to visa requirements, as are Gambia, Georgia, and Ghana.

Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Honduras are included, along with India, Iran, and Iraq, as well as the Ivory Coast and Jamaica.

Jordan, Kenya, and Kosovo are on the list, in addition to Lebanon, Lesotho, and Liberia, with Libya, Malawi, and Moldova also requiring visas.

Mongolia and Myanmar, also known as Burma, are subject to visa requirements, as are Namibia, Nauru, and Nepal.

Nicaragua, Nigeria, and North Macedonia are included, along with Pakistan, Palestine, and Russia, with Rwanda and Senegal also on the list.

Other countries requiring visas include Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, and South Africa, as well as South Sudan and Sri Lanka.

St Lucia, Sudan, and Syria are also subject to visa requirements, in addition to Tanzania, Timor-Leste, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Turkey, Uganda, and Venezuela, with the exception of biometric visas, are on the list, as are Vanuatu, Vietnam, and Yemen.

Zimbabwe rounds out the list of countries whose nationals must obtain a visa to enter or transit the UK.
