Britain condemns alleged meddling in its democratic process following Vance's remarks

This response came after Vance made comments on X, suggesting that the murder was linked to the perceived decline of civilization due to mass migration, sparking a strong reaction from Starmer's office.

A spokesperson for Starmer's office stated that certain individuals are attempting to interfere with British democracy and create divisions, emphasizing the need to respect the wishes of the Nowak family, who do not want the murder to be exploited for further division and hatred.

The statement also highlighted the importance of unity in the face of tragedy, noting that British politics should strive to bring people together, even in the most difficult circumstances.

On Thursday, Starmer accused South African tech mogul Elon Musk of attempting to fuel divisions over the case, which has generated widespread public outrage and controversy.

Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old university student, was fatally stabbed by 23-year-old Vickrum Digwa in Southampton in December, and was handcuffed by police as he lay mortally wounded, with Digwa falsely claiming to be the victim and alleging that Nowak had racially insulted him.

Far-right figures have seized on the case, claiming that it demonstrates unequal treatment of white people and ethnic minorities by the police, an allegation vehemently denied by Starmer's Labour government and police chiefs.

According to government statistics, black people in England and Wales are more than twice as likely to be arrested as white people, a fact that has been cited in the context of the ongoing debate.

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X, has made numerous posts about the police response to the stabbing, including one in which he questioned whether official police policy requires racism against white people.

Musk has also offered to fund a private prosecution against the police over their handling of the murder and has insulted the Hampshire Police force, further fueling the controversy surrounding the case.
