Breaking: Aiyedatiwa Clears Out Entire Team of Senior and Special Assistants, Plans to Hire Over 1000 Fresh Appointees

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has sacked all his political aides.

A terse statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Ebenezer Adeniyan in Akure, said the sack was to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery.

Adeniyan’s statement reads “In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect.

“Those affected are Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor.

“The governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the state thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours.

n

“Meanwhile, in a step to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, about 1000 new aides, from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the State, will be appointed by the Governor in due course.”

Recall that the sacked aides were appointed on November 8, 2025 by the governor.

Meanwhile, some appointees and political office holders of the governor have tendered their resignation letters ahead of the APC primaries for the 2027 general election.

Their actions was in line with the INEC election guidelines.

They include Hon Gbenga Omole, the Special Adviser on Transport; Hon Fadairo Oluwafemi, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Community Engagement (Central); and Dr Olusegun Victor Ategbole, Chairman of the Ondo State Hospital Management Board (HMB).

Vanguard gathered that they tendered their letters through the office of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Dr Taiwo Fasoranti.

Also, Engr Razaq Obe, the Director General of the Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU) has also resigned.

Findings revealed that Obe, Ategbole, Fadairo are eyeing the House of Representatives seats in Ifedore/Idanre; Akoko Southeast/Southwest and Akure South/North Federal constituencies.

Omole is said to be interested in returning to contest the State House of Assembly seat for Akoko Southwest constituency.

Also, the Secretary to Akure South Local Government, Hon. Adeola Fynch, also officially resigned from her position, effectively from March 20, 2026,

Fynch had declared her intention to contest the State House of Assembly election on the APC platform to represent Akure South constituency 1.
