Borno explosion: Kwankwaso urges government to give military upper hand to defeat insurgents

Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has urged the empowerment of the armed forces to take bold action against terrorists who are attacking the country.

Kwankwaso, a two-term former governor of Kano State, made this call in response to the bomb blasts that occurred in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, resulting in 23 fatalities and over 100 injuries.

According to Kwankwaso, the recent incidents in Borno indicate a troubling resurgence of terrorism that jeopardizes the peace that communities have worked tirelessly to rebuild after years of relative stability.

In a post on his verified Facebook handle, Kwankwaso expressed his deep sadness over the devastating multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri, which claimed the lives of 23 innocent people and injured over 100 others, as confirmed by the Nigeria Police Force.

Kwankwaso noted that these latest attacks, coupled with other recent incidents in Borno, signal a disturbing resurgence of senseless terrorism that threatens the peace the communities have struggled to rebuild after years of relative calm, emphasizing that this cannot be tolerated.

He emphasized that now is not the time for defensiveness or complacency, and that the armed forces must be fully empowered to take proactive and decisive action against the enemies of Nigeria.

The federal and state governments, Kwankwaso stated, must provide all necessary resources and support to enable the troops to decisively defeat the terrorist networks.
