Bid to Disrupt Imo Protest Seen as Ploy to Weaken Young People's Influence – City Boy Movement

The City Boy Movement has characterized the brief disruption at its mega empowerment rally in Owerri, Imo, as a deliberate attempt to sabotage efforts to empower youths in the South-East region.
nDirector-General Francis Shoga disclosed this information through a statement released by Director of Public Affairs Aminat Aminu-Isah on Sunday in Abuja.
nShoga acknowledged that a brief disruption did occur during the programme at Heroes Square, Owerri, but noted that the situation was swiftly brought under control without resulting in any fatalities.
nThe rally, which drew beneficiaries from all five South-East states, was organized to distribute empowerment items to accredited youths as part of the movement's broader efforts to engage and build capacity.
nAccording to Shoga, the programme had been proceeding peacefully before unidentified individuals caused a brief disturbance, triggering momentary confusion in parts of the venue.
nPreliminary reports indicate that the programme was progressing smoothly until some individuals disrupted the process, causing a brief stampede in parts of the venue.
nFortunately, no fatalities were recorded, and no attendees have been reported missing, Shoga stated.
nShoga praised the movement's members and volunteers for maintaining order and civility during the programme despite the brief disruption.
nHe reaffirmed the movement's commitment to youth mobilization and leadership development, in line with the Renewed Hope vision.
nAccording to Shoga, the City Boy Movement remains dedicated to mobilizing, mentoring, and grooming Nigerian youths for responsible leadership, while promoting discipline, patriotism, and service to the nation.
nThe Owerri mega empowerment rally was part of the movement's regional mobilization and youth empowerment initiative in the South-East zone, aimed at supporting young Nigerians through various means.
nThe initiative included providing skill support tools, empowerment materials, and civic engagement programmes to support young Nigerians.
