Bianca Ojukwu Vows to Push Forward with Innovative International Relations and People-to-People Diplomacy

Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, has vowed to bolster the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities of the Renewed Hope Agenda and enhance citizen diplomacy as she assumes the helm of Nigeria's foreign affairs, building upon the existing framework to propel the nation forward.

Her appointment as substantive Minister, effective Tuesday, 29th April 2026, marked a significant milestone, with Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressing deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the esteemed position, pledgeing to safeguard Nigeria's national interests on the global stage.

At a dinner hosted by the Ministry, which concluded a three-day induction course for Ambassadors and High Commissioners-Designate and their spouses, Odumegwu-Ojukwu thanked President Tinubu for deeming her worthy of the role, her first official function as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In a statement issued by Dr. Magnus Eze, Special Assistant on Communication and New Media, Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odumegwu-Ojukwu urged envoys, ministry staff, and management to collaborate with her in projecting a positive international image for Nigeria while protecting the nation's interests.

On her X handle, the Minister conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the trust placed in her, humbly acknowledging the honour of assuming office and expressing her eagerness to contribute to the continued success of the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities and citizen diplomacy initiatives.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu reiterated her unwavering commitment to advancing Nigeria's national interests globally, as stated on her X handle, where she wrote: "I look forward to contributing even more to the continued success of the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities of the Renewed Hope Agenda, our citizen diplomacy imperatives, and reaffirm to the good people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, my unwavering commitment towards advancing our national interests in the global arena."

Prior to her elevation, Odumegwu-Ojukwu served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, a position she held since November 4, 2024.

The 4D Foreign Policy, also known as the 4D Doctrine, encompasses four key pillars: Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora, and was introduced shortly after President Bola Tinubu's inauguration in May 2023.

The policy was formally unveiled by former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, in August 2023, with the aim of guiding the administration's international relations and aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda to reposition Nigeria on the global stage.
