Bayelsa State Government Suspend Kenneth Ingo Opukeme Over Violation Of Opuama Kingdom Constitution

GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the report of the panel that investigated allegations of violation of the Constitution of Opuama and high-handedness levelled against the Paramount Ruler by youths and other critical stakeholders of Opuama, the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, in exercise of extant provisions of Bayelsa State Chieftaincy Law, has approved the immediate suspension of the Amananaowei of Opuama, His Royal Highness Kenneth Ingo Opukeme from the throne.

Subsequently, a committee has been set up to review the report that indicted the suspended traditional ruler in order to issue a white paper.

Pending the conclusion of the White Paper Committee, the Chairman of the Opuama Council of Chiefs will act as the Amananowei.

Meanwhile, all other organs of the Opuama Community are to resume their functions.

Accordingly, all multi-national oil companies operating in Opuama, their subsidiaries and the general public are advised to take note of this development.
