Bala Mohammed Denies Crossing Over to APC

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has categorically denied speculation that he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, stating that such claims are unfounded.

He made this clarification on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists at the Government House in Bauchi, following the swearing-in of newly appointed permanent secretaries in the state.

Mohammed's response to the inquiry about his alleged defection was brief, as he told the press: "No interview for now, I will speak with Channels Television soon.

He further explained that he has become an international figure in politics and does not want to limit himself to local discussions, adding that he would address the matter later in the day.

The governor, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, emphasized that he has not defected, contrary to reports that he had done so, saying "I have not moved, they said that I had long defected."

As the Chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, Mohammed is now one of the only two PDP governors remaining, along with his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde.

The recent defections of several PDP governors have left Mohammed and Makinde as the sole representatives of their party, following the departure of governors such as Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and eight others.
