Authorities verify fatal attack by extremists on two law enforcement officers, three civilians in Zamfara

Zamfara's Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Bello, has verified that two police officers and three civilians were killed in a suspected bandit attack on the Yarkatsina Laka community, with this confirmation coming from a statement issued by command spokesperson Yazid Abubakar on Thursday in Gusau.

The statement revealed that Bello made this disclosure during a condolence visit to the affected community, where he offered his sympathies to those impacted by the violence.

According to Bello, the attack occurred on Tuesday at 5:55 p.m. when armed bandits, riding no fewer than 50 motorcycles, invaded the community, prompting an immediate response from the Police Strike Unit.

The Police Strike Unit's response resulted in the killing of 11 bandits and the injury of several others, but unfortunately, two police personnel and three civilians lost their lives during the exchange of fire.

In addition to the fatalities, one police officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment, a detail that Bello shared as he commiserated with the families of the deceased and the community as a whole.
