Authorities verify death of college student by own hand in Ondo

Audi Emmanuel, a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, was found dead in his Emure-Ile residence, with the Ondo State Police Command confirming the incident as a suspected suicide case.

The deceased, who was studying Computer Engineering, was discovered to have hung himself, according to information gathered by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), with the incident occurring along Awolowo Road, Emure Ile-Owo, near the Amotekun Office.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command's Spokesperson, issued a statement on Tuesday in Akure, confirming the incident and providing details on the actions taken by the police.

Police operatives promptly visited the scene, recovered the body, and deposited it at the morgue for preservation and autopsy, as disclosed by Jimoh in the statement made available to newsmen.

Preliminary observations indicate that the incident may be a case of suicide, although a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident, according to Jimoh.
