Authorities investigate murder of 35-year-old, kidnapping of spouse in Kebbi

The Kebbi Police Command has initiated an investigation into the murder of a 35-year-old man and the kidnapping of his wife, which occurred in the early hours of Friday in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.

A statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed that the investigation is underway.

Sufiyanu Garba, the 35-year-old victim, was attacked at his residence by suspected criminals, according to Usman.

Detectives from the command immediately visited the scene and began investigating the incident, as disclosed by Usman.

Usman noted that a nearby police checkpoint could have been alerted earlier, potentially enabling a more rapid response to the incident.

The victim was taken to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor, and his remains have been deposited at the hospital's mortuary.

The Kebbi Commissioner of Police has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case, with the goal of conducting a thorough investigation.

The directive aims to secure the rescue of the abducted woman and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice, according to the spokesman.
