Authorities disprove reported murder of four Accord party members in Ilesa

Osun State Police Command has debunked claims by the Imole Campaign Council, TICC, that four members of Accord Party were killed in Ilesa on Thursday.

The TICC spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, had posted on his Facebook page that four Accord Party members were killed in Ilesa.

In the said statement, he did not mention the area where the incident happened, nor the names of the said victims or attached the image of the slain persons in the said press statement.

“The Imole Campaign Council has received the shocking news of the killing of four Accord Party members in Ilesa, Osun State.

n

“The innocent persons were murdered today because of their political choice and support for Governor Ademola Adeleke”, he claimed.

However, the Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi said the incident at Ilesa is a continuation of cult killings, adding that only one Olakunle Owoeye was killed in the incident.

“Yes, there was an incident in Ilesa and it is cult-related where one person, identified as Olakunle Owoeye, was killed. We are not aware of any incident where four Accord Party members were killed,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Ijesa-South campaign council chairman, Dosu Babatunde, while addressing newsmen in Ilesa, assured residents of safety before, during and after the election, urging residents to troop and perform their civic responsibility.

He commended President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for ensuring adequate security in Ilesa.

When asked about killings in Ilesa, Mr Jola Akintola said the people have decided to give peace a chance and allow the exercise take place peacefully.
