Authorities dismiss bomb explosion as cause of gas-powered bus fire in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command issued a clarification on Sunday, stating that the reported explosion at Mando Motor Park was not a bomb blast, but rather a minor incident involving a gas-powered vehicle.

This incident occurred at approximately 3:00a.m. on Sunday at the premises of Silver Luxury Travel, a bus company operating at Mando Garage, Kaduna, according to DSP Mansir Hassan, the command's Public Relations Officer.

Upon hearing a loud sound, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, and preliminary investigations revealed that a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank.

The affected vehicle was subsequently evacuated to a safe location, and security personnel secured the area, as stated by Hassan, who also noted that no casualties or property loss were recorded.

Normal activities have since resumed in the area, and the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Muhammad Rabiu, has ordered a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and prevent future occurrences.

As a precautionary measure, operatives of the Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were also deployed to the scene, according to Hassan.

The police spokesperson urged the public to verify information before sharing, especially on security-related matters, to avoid unnecessary panic.
