Authorities apprehend 41 alleged abduction suspects, free 7 captives in Kaduna

Kaduna State Police Command has achieved significant milestones in its crusade against kidnapping and violent crimes, apprehending at least 41 suspects and rescuing seven kidnapped victims between March and April 2026.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, attributed these accomplishments to intelligence-driven operations and relentless clampdowns on criminal networks throughout the state, which he discussed with journalists on Monday.

The command's efforts also yielded the recovery of 24 firearms, 200 rounds of live ammunition, and 50 rustled cows during the same period, underscoring the police's commitment to eradicating crime in Kaduna State.

According to Muhammad, the command's successes demonstrate its determination to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of all residents, as evident in the arrest of a suspected gunrunner, Samaila Ilyasu, in Kagarko Local Government Area.

The arrest of Samaila Ilyasu led to the seizure of 20 locally fabricated Dane guns, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime in the region.

Additionally, operatives apprehended multiple suspected kidnappers and informants in various parts of the state, including Makarfi, Kachia, Giwa, and Kauru local government areas, further disrupting criminal networks.

A joint operation involving the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) resulted in the apprehension of two suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating in Kubau LGA, with efforts ongoing to capture other fleeing members.

In a separate operation, detectives intercepted a consignment of 200 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a sack of guinea corn, leading to the arrest of two suspects from Zamfara State.

Notorious drug dealer and gang member "Shanuna," who had been terrorizing residents in the Rigasa area of Kaduna metropolis, was also taken into custody by operatives.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the theft of 20 cows in Soba and Giwa LGAs, highlighting the command's efforts to combat cattle rustling in the state.

Further arrests were made involving kidnapping and armed robbery syndicates across the state, as the police continue to crack down on various forms of crime.

A gang involved in motorcycle snatching was busted, and suspected receivers of stolen items were arrested, resulting in the recovery of a TVS motorcycle.

The commissioner credited the successes to the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, and the support of the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.

Muhammad urged residents to continue providing security agencies with credible information, assuring that the command would not relent until all criminal networks in the state are dismantled.
