Atiku facing intimidation even after offering Obi the initial vice-presidential slot – Momodu

Dele Momodu, a renowned media entrepreneur, has expressed his discontent with the treatment of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing it as "bullying" in a post on X on Monday.

Momodu's statement came as he reflected on the fact that Atiku had previously chosen Peter Obi as his vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 election, a move he found ironic given the current situation.

He lamented that Atiku, who had given Obi his first vice-presidential ticket, was now being "bullied" in a manner that Momodu attributed to the actions of "fake OBIDIENTS and agent provocateur".

Momodu later participated in a discussion on X Spaces, where he addressed various topics related to the 2023 presidential election, including voting patterns and internal opposition dynamics, prompting a range of reactions from online listeners.

During the discussion, Momodu challenged claims that Obi was denied victory in the election, citing the outcome in regions where Obi enjoys strong support, and questioned the notion that he was rigged out of the election.

He pointed out that in 2023, Peter Obi had almost 100 per cent of the votes from his territory, and yet, some still claimed that he was rigged, highlighting the complexities of the situation.

Momodu also touched on the difficulties of building nationwide political support, particularly across regional divides, and made a remark that sparked criticism from some listeners, saying "Northerners will not die for any southern candidate".

In his assessment of Atiku's political standing, Momodu described him as a seasoned and determined individual, referencing his performance in the last election, where he came second.

Momodu expressed his admiration for Atiku, stating that whether one likes him or not, he stayed focused and came second in the last election, and that he remains a former Vice President of Nigeria.

He suggested that the next election cycle could be a turning point in Atiku's political journey, and that if he loses the primary, it could mark the end of his political aspirations.

Momodu urged restraint in political discourse, warning against hostility and online attacks, and called for civility among supporters, emphasizing the importance of respectful engagement.

He stated that he does not care what people say about Atiku, but believes that agent provocateurs are trying to infiltrate their party, and that they will support whoever wins the ticket.

Momodu also emphasized the need for respectful engagement, including in discussions about President Bola Tinubu, and cautioned against abusive language, saying that it reflects poorly on the person using it.
