Atiku expresses sorrow over casualties of Warri-Itakpe rail disaster, urges enhanced security measures

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has conveyed his sorrow regarding the train accident that occurred along the Warri–Itakpe rail corridor near Agbor in Delta State, resulting in the loss of three lives and injuring several others.

In a statement released on his X page on Tuesday, Atiku Abubakar expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and offered sympathy to the people and government of Delta State over the tragic incident.

Atiku Abubakar stated that he was deeply disheartened by the train accident, which claimed the lives of some Nigerians and left many injured, and he extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

The former presidential candidate also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident, wishing them strength as they undergo treatment, and he expressed this sentiment by saying he prays for the speedy recovery of those receiving treatment and wishes them strength in this difficult time.

Atiku Abubakar commended the prompt response of the Delta State Government, emergency responders, and other personnel involved in the rescue operations following the incident, acknowledging their swift intervention.

He described the accident as a painful incident, extending his sympathies to the people and Government of Delta State, while also commending the swift response of the Delta State Government, emergency personnel, and all those involved in the rescue efforts.

The former vice president emphasized that the accident serves as a reminder of the need to improve safety measures across Nigeria’s transportation sector, stating that the tragedy is a sobering reminder of the urgent need to strengthen safety standards and emergency preparedness across the transportation system.

The accident, which occurred along the Warri–Itakpe railway line near Agbor, Delta State, resulted in the death of three passengers and injuries to several others, prompting Atiku Abubakar to pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased and comfort for their families.
